How to get Motorcycle Licence in Singapore
( Class 2B, 2A and 2 )

The simple procedure explained how to get a driving licence for motorcycle in singapore.

Eligibility & Documents Required

  • Eligibility
    • You must attain the age of 18 years and above to apply for a riding licence. This requirement applies to all citizens and permanent residents of Singapore and also foreigners who are residing in Singapore for more than twelve (12) months. Foreigners who reside here for less than twelve (12) months must possess a valid foreign licence and International Driving Permit (IDP) issued by an authorised body in their country of origin.
  • Required Documents
    • Identity Card or Passport
    • One recent passport size photograph
    • A valid employment pass, work permit, student pass, dependant's pass and PR (foreigner only)

Types of motorcycle licences

Class 2B Class 2A Class 2
To ride motorcycle capacity is of 200 cc and below To ride motorcycles with engine capacity between 201 cc and 400 cc. You must hold the Class 2B licence for at least 1 year before you can obtain the Class 2A licence To ride motorcycles with engine capacity above 400 cc. You must hold the Class 2A licence for at least 1 year before you can obtain the Class 2 licence.

How to get Licence

From the any above Driving center you have to undergo basic Theory and Practical riding course to qualify for driving license.


Basic Theory Test (BTT):

This basic test is to test your knowledge of the rules and regulations of the road, the traffic signs and signals. On passing this test you can apply for a Provisional Driving License (PDL) which will allow you to practice riding in the driving circuit and on the public roads under the supervision of a driving school instructor.

Riding Theory Classes and Practical Test

You have to enroll in riding theory class and must complete the circuit and on road practical assessment, attending all  theoretical lessons, possess a valid Riding Theory test results and Provisional Driving License before they are allowed to book for the Traffic Police Practical Test.

If you are successful in passing the Practical Riding Test conducted by Traffic Police, you will be issued with the respective Classes Qualified License that you enrolled for. You will be on probation for a period of 1 year from the grant date of your license.


  1. For every test you need to enroll and pay the fee for the test, and if you failed to pass the test again you have to enroll to appear for the test.
  2. All fees paid are non-refundable and non-transferable after cancellation.

Renewal of Driving Licence

The Singapore driving licence has no expiry since the introduction of the photocard licence, so no need to renew licence for singapore citizen and permanent residents(PR) but for foreigners it is valid for 5 years, and there after foreigners has to be renewed every 3 years.

If the person passes away, the licence will have to be surrendered to the Traffic Police for cancellation or he /she can be surrendered upon request.

Foreigners holding a Singapore driving licence may renew their driving licence in person at the Traffic Police one month from the date of expiry of the driving licence.

The following documents and payment are required when renewing your driving licence

  1. Original Passport
  2. Valid employment pass/work permit/student pass/dependant pass, and/or other documents showing your extended stay in Singapore.
  3. One recent color passport-sized photograph with white background.
  4. Renewal Fee $50

Motorist above 65 years old and for every 3 years thereafter, Medical examination to be conducted by a Singapore registered medical practitioner at any private clinic or Government Polyclinics Once certified by the Singapore registered medical practitioner that has to be submitted to Traffic Police within 2 months before the date of birth of the licence holder.

Replacement of Driving Licence

Replacement of driving licence can be applied for the following reason

  1. If you lost your driving licence or misplaced
  2. If your driving licence is broken or defaced.
  3. If you have changed your name or other personal information written on the photocard driving licence

Note : if you want to update your residential address that can be done through Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) or at any of the Neighbourhood Police Posts/Centres.

From 1 October 2018, Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents will need to apply online to replace their driving licence via the E-Service ‘Qualified Driving Licence’. Foreigners will need to apply for the replacement of their driving licence in person at

When applying for replacement, you will need to have the following:

  1. Your SingPass account
  2. eNETS / Visa / MasterCard/Debit card; and
  3. Processing fee of S$25 is required.

For Foreigners:

When applying for replacement, please bring along the following:

  1. Valid Work Pass
  2. Identification Card or Passport
  3. NETS / Credit Card / Cashcard (cash is not accepted) and
  4. Processing fee of S$25 is required.
